Brukseli Pantone Hotel

Hotel Place Loix, Loixplein, Brussels

Whether visiting Brussels for a weekend or simply seeking a change of scenery for the night, below are some of The Word's  favourite alternatives to the rather impersonal international five star hotel chains.

Topping our list is the recently opened and buzz-worthy Hotel Pantone. Designed by Michel Penneman and architect Olivier Hannaert, the spanking new boutique hotel establishes itself as a temple for the colour-conscious, and whose aim is to allow guests to experience the city through a lens of colour.

Each floor showcases a distinctive hue, mixing colour therapy and design. The 59 rooms and suites use one of seven Pantone colour palettes, ranging from tranquil and aquatic to daring and fiery: earthy/rich (chocolate), daring/fiery (fuchsia), vibrant/intense (orange), cheerful/warm (lemon), captivating/esteemed/silky (pink), fresh/eager (green) and tranquil/exotic/exhilarating (aqua).

Modern Design Hotel Brussels

The Pantone Hotel opened this week in Brussels, featuring modern design decked out in just seven very precise dominant colors: Pantones 478, 200, 137, 1215, 238, 353 and 298. For those of us less accustomed to the famed color-matching system, that would be approximately brown, crimson, orange, beige, lavender, seafoam and aqua. And yes, you can select your room by color.

Pantone, in case you're baffled at this point, is a company that specializes in color precision, making sure graphic designers get the exact shades they're looking for. Why they would theme a hotel around this is a separate question, one that shouldn't obfuscate the concept's general awesomeness.

Naturally, the modern hotel lounge serves colorful cocktails including the Pink Champagne Pantone 12-1107, the Lemon Drop Pantone 12-0736 and the Daiquiri Green 12-0435.

The 59-key design hotel offers free WiFi. Hotel room rates at the Pantone costs a very reasonable €59 per night.

Central Brussels Hotel Reviews

We know how it is. You get to the hotel, turn on the lights in your room, and -- gasp -- instead of the soothing Rose Dust (14-1307) you expected, the walls are painted a hideous shade of Butternut (18-0830). And those sheets -- are they really Fuchsia Red (18-2328)?

If this has happened to you, there's now an alternative, where every aspect of your lodging experience will be perfectly color-matched: The Pantone Hotel in central Brussels, designed to "suit your savvy palette and colorful imagination."

Modern & Trendy Design Hotel

A blocky 1970s corner building has been entirely refurbished with exposed concrete pillars and polished terrazzo stone floors, which keep the lobby firmly grounded. Tall white stilts, decorated with changeable Pantone colour samples provide some zoning in this bright volume, where check-in and bar space merge across Corian counters, and a layering of authentic narratives starts with Scott Wilson's 'M2' series of foam furnishings for local producers Quinz & Milan.

The 60, largely white guestrooms are brought to life by photographer, Victor Lévy's super-saturated wall-sized images of gritty scenes witnessing the Brussels urban milieu.

As you'd expect, given its association with the company largely seen as the classifiers of colour, the newly opened Pantone Hotel in south central Brussels is a riot of different hues. Interior designer Michel Penneman and architect Olivier Hannaert have developed a creative journey well beyond primary colours, against a restrained, predominantly white backdrop.

Designer Hotel Room Accommodation

There is a very new type of designer hotel--The Pantone Hotel in Brussels. Pantone as in the company that created a precise-color matching system by which all designers of anything live and dye by.The company, while extremely well-known in its industry, is looking to reach out to real consumers. Hence, The Pantone Designer Hotel.
But what we love, absolutely love, is that guests can choose their hotel room at check-in based on their MOOD. It's like a Mood Ring Hotel! Check out the color swatches and designer hotel.accommodation listed here.

Brown is an earthy, rich color. Red is daring and fiery while yellow is cheerful and warm (and yes, all colors are listed with their Pantone ID number too.) But never fear, the entire hotel rooms are not dunked in the colors. The rooms are typically white spaces with splashes of color throughouth--typical a swatch on the bed, the wall above the bed and a window pane.

Other amenities include FREE WiFi, a lounge and rooftop bar that serve Pantone colored cocktails and a store where you can buy all sorts of Pantone swag the company has co-created like mugs, bath and body goods, clothes, bags, stationary and even folding chairs.

Hotel reviews on Gizmodo - Pantone Hotel Opens In Brussels, Limited To Just Seven Color Palettes

It's one of those things that I'm surprised took this long to come to fruition. The Pantone Hotel, each room decorated in one of seven color palettes, even offers color consultants for color psychology and trends.

Located on the Place Loix in Brussels, the themes available for the 59 rooms are "earthy, rich," "daring, fiery," "vibrant, intense," "cheerful, warm," "captivating, esteemed, silky," "fresh, eager" and tranquil, aquatic, exhilarating."

You've probably worked out by now that the colors for those rooms are brown, red, bright yellow, soft yellow, pink, green and blue—with each room featuring artwork, photos and accessories in the chosen mood.
Rooms seem to be pretty affordable, with deal sites listing them at well under €100 ($120) a night. Book online at Brussels Hotel Booking and Reservationsl

Pantone Hotel Branding & Licensing

Pantone Expands From Color Services to Hotels (With Rooms to Dye For)

Pantone has been aggressively pursuing a new line of business: Product licensing, which culminates today in a new Pantone Hotel.in Brussels.

Every designer knows Pantone: Their numbered color-matching system identifies that exactly perfect shade precisely, ensuring its fidelity all the way to production. Yet even though it's a $200 million business, it's hardly a household name. They're hoping to change that with consumer products--and today, their latest licensing venture, the Pantone Hotel, opened its doors in Brussels, just off the chic Avenue Louise.

"We’re looking to exude a quiet authority, be more of an insider’s brand,” says Lisa Herbert, EVP of Pantone’s home and fashion division (and daughter of Lawrence Herbert, who created the firm’s core matching system in 1963). “If you have something Pantone, you’re in the know in terms of design."

The hotel is, for now, the company's big, branding mothership. Designed by Belgian interior designer Michel Penneman and Belgian architect Olivier Hannaert, each of the hotel's 59 rooms, which range from $84 to $184 a night, is inspired by different Pantone color palettes. On-site Pantone Color consultants are apparently available for "color consultations and educational seminars on color psychology and trends." And inside, you can buy any of the myriad products the company has co-created: The "Pantone Universe," which includes mugs, bath and body goods, clothes, cufflinks, keychains, stationery, bags, and folding chairs.

Those products take their cues from Pantone’s style guide, which dictates iconic touchstones such as hang-tags shaped like Pantone chips or chip-windows that stick to garments.

Chic Stylish Hotel Brussels

World travel often serves as inspiration for design, and this season we asked designers to dig deep into their travel journals to tell us which city or location they consider the most colorful in the world.

Designers responded with many rich, vibrant color stories – from distant lands like Turkey, India and Morocco, to places that are a bit closer to home, like New York and Los Angeles.

Pantone is inspired by travel as well, and recently announced the opening of the first PANTONE HOTEL in Brussels, a city rich in design. Located near Avenue Louise, a bustling shopping district dotted with designer boutiques, the PANTONE HOTEL is perfect for travelers who like their hotel rooms to be chic, stylish and comfortable.

The HOTEL boasts a chic, colorful design with each floor highlighting a specific PANTONE Color. Guests can relax and enjoy a colorthemed cocktail in the PANTONE BAR or take in Brussels architecture from the rooftop patio.
